This novel was was written in 1959 by Ken Kesey. It wasn't published until 1962 and it was a great success. It is set in an Oregon asylum, and serves as a study of the institutional process and the human mind. When it was released there was a lot of controversy over it because it contained much sexual content.

John Steinbeck

11. This indicated that George began to feel bad and started looking at Lennie in a different way after a while. He realized that Lennie is harmless and a nice person and decided that playing jokes on him was unfair. George is becoming more mature and taking into consideration Lennie's disabilities.
12. Yes, Lennie is "jes like a kid". I think this because physically, he is a man, but mentally, he has the ideas and brians of a little kid. He thinks the same way any little kid would. Toddlers like to touch everything and experience the world once they begin to know it, and Lennie is the same way. Back in Weed, he felt the girl's dress, but not intentionally trying to scare her. He just wanted to feel the dress. Also, he carried around a dead mouse, just stroking it. He is very harmless and just has the mind of a child.
13. Carlson addures Candy that he can shoot Candy's old dog without feeling any pain and demostrates how he would do it. This shows that Carlson is a character that doesn't care and/or feel sympathy for anyone or anything. Knowing that the dog meant a lot to him, he still shot it without feeling any sadness.
14. Slim protects George and Lennie after Lennie's confrontation with Curley. I think he does this because he wants George and Lennie to stay and he knows that Lennie didn't mean to hurt Curley. This shows that Slim has a nice side and might be a slight example of foreshadowing saying that Slim, George and Lennie are going to be good friends.
